SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 4/18/07

DON ANDREWS let the STAR SPANGLED BANNER, followed by
VJ MAC leading the Pledge to the Flag. JACK FIELDING gave the invocation, which included a remembrance to the tragedy that occurred at Virginia Tech, and also for our servicemen overseas.

Guests included RICHARD A. RODRIGUEZ (THE Speaker for the day); JOE ESCOBEDO, a guest of MIKE TANAKA, and a potential new member, An Interclub with the LaPuente-Industry club, who had Pres. VERN MOYER, PAUL WHITE, DAN STEFFAN, and I am not sure, but VICKI STEFFAN might have been. Apologies to those that I might have missed.

COMING EVENTS:

4/24/07 - 6:00 p.m. - TRIVIA CONTEST - NICK'S TASTE OF TEXAS - KIWANIS team consists of Dr. Tanaka, Dr. Chatfield and MAC MC ALPIN. Mercy, Mercy!
4/26/07 - HILLARY WOLF of Northview High- Speaker
5/11/07 - PRAYER BREAKFAST 7:00 A. M. - BOWL
6/9/07 - PANCAKE BREAKFAST - SELL TICKETS!!!

JOHN MORDOFF was assigned to carry the pot (without warming it), TOM PALMERI was possibly a little bit late, and PREZ. JOEL levied a heavy assessment of $10.00; COOKIE FORD volunteered $20.00 for DON'S birthday, and I don't believe there was any other fund raising.

MIKE TANAKA spoke about the dental Kiwanis project, and PAUL WHITE spoke on raising the membership of Kiwanis to one million, and said the word "IMPOSSIBLE" is not in the Kiwanis dictionary.

ANITA WHITE had the winning ticket for the door prize, and drew an Ace, but not Spades, and won $1.00.

All of the PAR-BUSTERS, BISHOP, CHATFIELD, JOHNSON & MATTHEWS were absent.

RICHARD A. RODRIGUEZ of Regional Marketing Solutions spoke on the uses of web-sites in establishing and promoting businesses. He offered 12 months "free" advertising - Thereafter $450.00 annually. I am sure it can help in many instances,

"A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, an a man of under-standing is even-tempered."

Tex's Thought - Do you know why a hospital gown is like heath insurance? You're never as covered as you think you are.
