South Hills Kiwanis Weekly Bulletin -- 6/24/10

The meeting began with the singing of "GOD BLESS AMERICA" led by VJ MAC. JOHN MORDOFF led the Pledge to the Flag, and ANITA WIllTE gave a very good Invocation. TEX WILLIAMS' Thought For the Day:

Guests included Dr.(?) Tom Pokuza, an associate of MIKE TANAKA, and Dr. Sylvia Mann, the speaker, and conductor ofthe West Covina Symphony.

Business Assessments - NONE - Cookie did not meet the budget!! AND - ELTON was not present because he was in Las Vegas with an excuse - He was on Kiwanis business.

Dr SYLVIA LEE MANN was the speaker who said that once upon a time there was a real symphony orchestra in the city of West Covina, complete with holiday concerts, volunteers, children's concerts, and opportunities for everyone to hear fantastic music - usually free!
Music brings people together and enriches our lives. We need all the music we can get! Under the baton and leadership of Dr. Sylvia Mann, the West Covina Symphony concerts in its first full season of operation (2008/09) presented a full season of four full orchestra
concerts.
It sounds wonderful to this old music lover. Let's put a group to attend the concert that is coming up in August.
