South Hills Kiwanis Weekly Bulletin -- 7/15/10
The PREZ, COOKIE FORD, tried to get someone beside MAC to lead the opening song,
but wound up with the Old Hillbilly leading "AMERICA". NO BELL AS YET!!!
Then BILL MATTHEWS started to Pray, but led the Pledge to the Flag. DON ANDREWS
DID say the invocation, and TEX WILLIAMS friend Mr. Anonymous said:
"Come and sit a spell on Granny's front porch, which was a friendly place to
gather, and entertainment was provided."
DON ANDREWS says we need one more interclub to make a Round Robin, and has set
up one with the LaPuente Club next Tuesday. Meet him at the Bowl at 11:30 A. M., and
those who can go can car-pool with DON.
CAROL SCANLAN presented her monthly Treasurer's report. She spends a lot of time
preparing her report, but it should be presented to the Board - not the regular meeting.
CAROL also won the raffle with a four of hearts, and donated it back.
COOKIE assessed STEVE SHERMAN for his 45th (?) Anniversary, and pulled out 45
cents, which turned into dollars. JOEL BEEZY paid $5.00 for being late. GEORGE
GURNETT was Mr.K, and there were a few non-sociables who did not shake his hand.
MANY THANKS TO COOKIE AND DON FORD for opening up their beautiful home for the meeting on July 10th, the barbeque was great, and all the-side-dishes were
very good. COOKiE is a good President and Social Chairman. If she only had a bell!
ANITA WHITE introduced STAN AND MARISA DeGENARO, who spoke about
KRISTIE'S PLACE, which is a place that is warm and comfortable place where families
with terminally ill children can find solace and support during some of burden days at
their lives. It sounds like and must be a children's Hospice. They passed out a bookmarker,
which says: "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."
Dr. Suess
IRENE SNAVELY was walking her dog, and she and her dog were attacked by a
Pit Bull dog. I believe I heard that her dog was killed and she was injured. I do
not know the full story, because I had to leave early.
