SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 1/12/12
The meeting was opened with the singing of "GOD BLESS AMERICA" led by MAC
MC ALPIN. JACK FIELDING let the Pledge of Alleciance. TEX WILLIAMS used a
Quote from his friend, Mr "A", who said:
"Following the path ofleast resistance is what make men and rivers crooked"
THE REV. JAMES PARKER reminded us to keep our servicemen who are serving
Overseas in our thoughts and prayers, and then gave us his usual inspiring invocation.
We had a very good attendance today with seventeen members and two always welcome
Guests from the LaPuente/Industry club, namely VERN MOYER and PAUL WHITE.,
Who invited us to break bread at an inter-club next Tuesday at the Red Lobster. THE
PREZ. got a commitment out of at least four members to meet at the Bowl and car pool.
JOHN MORDOFF was presented with a prize from PAUL WHITE, but I am not sure
Why, but I think his ticket was drawn from one of the many ticket sales that LaPuente/Industry conducts, but I am not knocking their solicitations, because those guys and
DAVE WALLACH (sp), really are the main guys who put the Kiwanis float in the
Rose Parade, and their sales really helps put the flowers on the float. We also had some
Volunteers from our club, who helped work on the Kiwanis Float, namely JOEL BEEZY
and his wife, Janet, and HARRY ANDERSON, and his wife Janet.
THE NO FINE BADGE IS STILL MISSING, BUT THE PREZ IS BEING VERY
WIMPY about making any heavy duty assessments. The culprit who last bid on that
Red badge should come forward while the Prez is in such a generous frame of mind.
Whoever prepared the Minutes for the December Board of Directs meeting should be
Commended for doing such a nice job. I think it was Michael Tanaka, and I cannot
Recall ever getting such a professional looking report in the 51 years I have been in
This club.
On January 26,2012, our own CAROL SCANLAN will receive the Golden Heritage
Award at the Covina Chamber of Commerce Installation/Awards Dinner .. Seats are
$45.00, but I am not sure who you see to purchase, but I think it might be the President
Or maybe Elton. Our club is committed to purchase a table of 10.
The South Hills Kiwanis Board meeting was held after the regular meeting, and various
Matters and projects were discussed, and the fund raisers of the Kow~Chip Bingo and the
Pancake Breakfast are planning meetings to get things on schedule. We already have
the Kow~Chip Bingo deeds, and they need to be sold. - SELL ~~ SELL-SELL, AND
FEBRUARY 11, 2012 IS ALMOST HERE. As usual, Harry Anderson has been
Working hard with the Sponsored Youth Committee. A NEW ROSTER OF
MEMBERS, WITH BIRTHDATES, WEDDING ANNIVERSARIES, WIFES' NAMES
PHONE NUMBERS, AND E-MAIL ADDRESSES ARE NEEDED.
