SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 1/24/08

PRESIDENT ANITA prevailed upon VJ MAC & GLORIA FREET to open the meeting with the singing of the " STAR SPANGLED BANNER", followed by COOKIE FORD leading the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Then TOM PALMERI gave the invocation and TEX WILLIAMS gave the Thought For the Day:

" Observe your enemies. For they are first to find your Faults."
T. S. Eliot

Guests included: PEGGY MC CARTER, a guest of ELTON CHATFIELD, and BENNY BOLANDRAN, a guest of DR. MICHAEL TANAKA.

Coming Events:

2/7/08 - CAL-NEV-HA DISTRICT GOVERNOR'S visit to be held at the Monrovian Restaurant in Monrovia - 6:00 P. M.
2/11/08 - SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BOARD - 6:00 P. M.
2/12/08 - SOUTH HILLS SWEETHEART DINNER at the
Johnny Carinos Restaurant - 6:00 P. M.
2/14/08 - REGULAR MEETING IS DARK

ELTON CHATFIELD WON $8.00 from drawing an "8".

JOEL BEEZY got up and took a lot of time bragging about some very beautiful lady inviting him up to the luxury boxes at a recent CLIPPER game, and complained because he had just bought his own dinner, and there was a gourmet spread in the luxury suite. JOEL got away with all of this bragging, because he still has the `FINE FREE BADGE" for the rest of the month.

ANITA paid $10.00 for something or other. Maybe it was payment in advance for the phone call she got during the meeting. JOYCE CHAPMAN paid $5.00, and the PREZ. sent the pot around the room and collected $1.00 from everyone- just to sweeten the fund.

BOB EASON finished giving his really interesting slide show of Old Covina with its old schools, horse and buggies, athletic teams, which including ladies who played tennis in dresses. Those girls would be embarrassed to see the current finalists in the Australian Open, but I bet the old codgers would be singing "Zippa -de- dooda" What a wonderful day.
