SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 1/31/08

The PREZ kind of dragged her feet a little in making her usual appointments for the Patriotic song, pledge, prayer, etc., so GLORIA FREET gave a chord and yours truly started "GOD BLESS AMERICA". ANITA really did not mind and then DON ANDREWS (I think) led the Pledge, and TOM PALMERI gave the invocation.

TEX WILLIAMS gave one of RONALD REAGAN'S THOUGHTS:

"The Government's view of the economy can be summed up in a few short phrases. — If it moves, tax it. — If it keeps moving, regulate it. - If it stops moving, subsidize it."

I wonder what Ronnie would have thought about the spending of "W" in Iraq ?

COOKIE FORD bragged a little bit about winning a great big trophy in a car show for the fancy 1953 Mercury that DON polishes and shines — $10.00.

DON ANDREWS bragged about something or other and also paid $10.00. He also won the pot with a nominal sum, and he did a fairly good jog of being an auctioneer for the "FINE FREE" BADGE for the month of February. The bidding started slow, but DON livened things up with bidding between PALMERI, MORDOFF, WHITE, ANDREWS and CHATFIELD, with DR. BOW -WOW taking the revered badge for the meager sum of $50.00, which is a bargain for all the sins ELTON will commit.

PEGGY MC CARTER was a welcome guest again. How many have called someone to come to the meeting next week? If not, do so while you think of it.

DR. – LT. GOV. MIKE TANAKA was the program, and talked about KIWANIS, and said that in his 1st four months as Lt. GOV., he sleeps like a baby— He sleeps two hours, and then wakes up and starts crying. He gave some literature to ANITA, and to DON ANDREWS which they can use in their reign as President.

More Thoughts: If you are waiting for tomorrow to say something nice — Don't wait! There may not be a tomorrow. The billions - no, trillions, being spent in Iraq would be better spent in Africa 's poor countries.
