VJ MAC led a good size group in the singing of "GOD BLESS AMERICA", and
JACK FIELDING followed with an inspirational pledge to the Flag. HARRY
ANDERSON gave the invocation, and TEX WILLIAMS' THOUGHT WAS:
"OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS-- BUT TEMPTATION LEANS
ON THE DOOR BELL" --J.A. BAUER
GEORGE BISHOP passed out KOW-CHIP BINGO DEEDS -30 to each person
It is not mandatory, but it is a good fund raiser - SO SELL THE DEEDS!!
Dr. MICHAEL TANAKA was collecting money for the SEE'S CANDY PROJECT,
and announced that an adequate number had signed up and paid for the candy.
I think there was an interclub with Hacienda Heights, or at least VERN MOYER
was there selling some tickets, which GEORGE BISHOP won $500.00 last year.
JACKIE CHATFIELD, ELTON'S daughter-in-law, FAITH MELLINGER, the speaker,
and ELI JOUEN were guests.
JOEL BEEZY gave a short program —or a long announcement-about the CLIPPER GAME, which the DONALD STERLING FOUNDATION is donating 350 tickets and
THE HERB HAFIF FOUNDATION is paying for the buses to transport the students
to the game. The buses will be at the South Hills High School. GEORGE BISHOP and
HARRY ANDERSON have the information.
JOEL BEEZY donated $20.00 because he talks too much, and conned MAC MC ALPIN
into donating $20.00, because he left early last week, and his ticket won the door-prize of
$4.00, which he donated back to the pot, and then guess what - MC ALPIN WON THE
POT AGAIN, AND TODAY HE PULLED THE ACE OF SPADES. wHAT ARE THE ODDS OF THAT HAPPENING? JOYCE CHAPMAN warmed the pot with $5.00.
STEVE SHERMAN paid $20:00; ANITA WHITE paid $10.00 because of her grand-son's accomplishments at Cal Poly; TEX WILLIAM bought $20.00 worth of the Rose-Bowl raffle tickets.
FAITH MELLINGER of HABITAT FOR HUMANITY spoke on building houses for
needy by working with prospective partners and sponsors to help fund the construction
of homes.
