SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 12/17/09
This old hill-billy led the singing of "GOD BLESS AMERICA". Then Carol
Scanlan led the Pledge to the Flag, and TEX WILLIAMS' Thought For the
Day was short and sweet and authored by Booker T. Washington:
"Character is Power."
GUESTS included IRIS BISHOP, MARGARET CHATFIELD, and VERN MEYER
of the La Puente Kiwanis Club, who presented some gifts to GEORGE BISHOP, who
received some nice little Christmas prizes, AND ANITA BISHOP was presented with
a check for $500.00 that she won in LA PUENTE'S FUND RAISER. Me thinks that
the wimp with the gavel should relieve Ms. ANITA of at least a Tithe from that prize. YES, I did say FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00) was the Prize.
DON ANDREWS was promoting an Interclub for next Tuesday with the West Covina
Kiwanis Club. Meets at noon at Bob's Big Boy. Ya All Come, Ya Hear.
THEN, GEORGIE BISHOP IS GOING TO BE HONORED AS CITIZEN OF THE
YEAR FOR (2009) on January 28, 2010, at the South Hills Country Club. WOW!!
The South Hills Kiwanis gave an honorium to our server, Coleen, for all the trouble
we give her in the course of the year.
A goodly portion of the board of directors forgot or had some other excuse as to why
they were not at the regularly scheduled Board meeting last Monday, and so the
MADAM PRESIDENT sought the nominal sum of $3.00 from each absent director
who did not show up on Monday, January 14, 2009.
ELTON CHATFIELD helped to push in a piano so Margaret could play some songs
for the Christmas sing a long, and acquired a big bruise on his arm. Cookie did not
charge him anything for that bruise.
TOM PALMERI - wearing the Fine Free Badge - got up and confessed to a bunch
of sins concerning the accomplishments of his wife and son getting some real great
grades.
DON ANDREWS was Mr. "K", and only two people did not shake his hand -Mike
Tanaka and Elton Chatfield, BUT I don't believe any revenue was given.
MAC and MARGARET led the group in some Christmas songs. Sinatra began to
lose his voice at 82- This old guy is now experiencing that same trouble.
REMEMBER - THE NEXT TWO MEETINGS ARE DARK BECAUSE OF
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS
