SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 3/13/08

GLORIA FREET accompanied VJ MAC in the singing of the "STAR
SPANGLED BANNER". Then JOHN RADCLIFFE led the Pledge of
Allegiance . BILL MATTHEWS gave the invocation, and the
Thought of the Day was given by TEX WILLIAMS:
" A man can't do much better that to leave his piece of
land better than he found it ."
Roy Hubbard

It was a real pleasure to have CARL JOHNSON back today . Carl
has been recuperating from a fall a few weeks ago, but JOHN
MORDOFF picked him up and brought him to the meeting today.

LT. GOV. MICHAEL TANAKA was all decked out in his blue blazer
and numerous KIWANIS badges today . This was his second meeting
of the day. He visited the Glendora Kiwanis at 7 :00 A.M ., where he
was the speaker, and participated in the induction of our newest
member, CAROL SCANLAN.

ELTON CHATFIELD performed the official duties of inducting CAROL
by presenting her with a KIWANIS pin, a KIWANIS plaque with the
four objectives of KIWANIS, and an apron, which all of the members
are supposed to sign in the next two weeks.

CAROL is a home-grown Californian, who has retired from ADP . She
and her husband, GARY BUTCH" SCANLAN have 5 children, and 8
grandchildren . "Butch" is still working at Vita-Pakt Corporation, and
their address is:

879 Grandview Ave., Covina, Ca . 91723 - telephone 626-332-9562.

There were a few voluntary donations today:
TOM PALMERI relinquished $30.00; BILL MATTHEWS gave
$5.00; COOKIE FORD went to New York, and stayed at the Helmsley,
and only had $5.00 left; PREZ. ANITA saw fit to fork over $5.00;
JOEL BEEZY donated a Washington note, or maybe it was a Lincoln
note - or both? There might have been a few more, but my hearing
aid battery went dead, and I could not really tell.
