Club Bulletin
SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 3/26/09
The meeting was opened with VJ MAC leading the "Star Spangled Banner", and
HARRY ANDERSON leading the PLEDGE to the FLAG. BILL MATTHEWS gave
the invocation and TEX WILLIAMS' Thought For the Day was a quote from
Richard Cumberland
"It's better to wear out than to rust out."
A silent prayer was said for our departed friend - JOHN RADCLIFFE, whose
services will be held at Forest Lawn on Saturday at 1:30 P. M.
ADDELL WILLIAMS is at the Santa Teresita Hospital in Duarte, and TEX says she
is improving. The old Mule Trader from Maine (not Texas) may have to go in for
surgery on his carotid arteries. JIM PARKER, The Reverent One, is having eye
surgery at UCLA HOSPITAL. BESSIE ANDREWS was taken back to the hospital.
CARL JOHNSON is still in the convalescent home, and is able to feed himself with
some degree of difficulty.
Our prayers are with all of these friends and members.
ELTON CHATFIELD out bid everyone for the FINE FREE BADGE for April with a
high bid of $75.00, but since he already had a check made out for $100.00, he put that
in anyway. Then he won the drawing, pulled an eight (8), and donated that back also.
JOYCE CHAPMAN tossed in $15.00, because she just likes the company. JOEL
BEEZY invited SABRINA (?) From the Masonic Home in Covina, who told gave a
short summary of some of the programs at the Masonic Home. JOEL donated $3.00,
because that is all that he had left, and the mortgage business is still not good.
