SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 4/1/10
PRESIDENT COOKIE FORD called upon VJ MAC to lead the singing of "America", and JOHN MORDOFF led the Pledge to the Flag. Then TEX WILLIAMS was
asked to give his Thought For the Day, and TEX said he was giving the Thought for
the last time, because he was going back to Maine with his girl friend to live, and that
he would not be here to give any more thoughts- then the old booger said APRIL
FOOL, and gave a thought from Mr. Anonymous:
"If you know the difference between good advice and bad advice;
chances are you don't need advice."
Guests included IRENE PARKER and the speaker, ROBERT MORLEY.

The Fine Free Badge was auctioned off, and after a slow start, MIKE TANAKA won
the little red badge with a $35.00 bid.
WIMPY very weakly assessed the editor $20.00 for being disrespectful to the PREZ. I
think I was hit with $20.00 last week for the same thing, which brings up a good point This
old man cannot hear 2/3 of what is said by the President or the Speaker.
GEORGE BISHOP is recuperating from total knee replacement at Casa Colima
Hospital, but he is supposed to be coming home on Saturday.
REV. JAMES PARKER introduced the Speaker, Robert Morley, who spoke about
EASTER or RESURRECTION DAY, and I think he is a pastor at the Methodist
Church. Rev. Morley (sp) was a very personable person, who said (I think) that there
are no original documents about Easter, or the Bible, or who wrote it, and that the
four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John do not even agree on what happened,
or what JESUS was wearing, if anything, and the disciples did not believe what they
were told. Mr. Morley said that the Empty Tomb does not prove anything, but that
something happened to transform the disciples into fearless persons who preached
CHRISTIANITY, and that now Christians rise up on EASTER and proclaim the
RESURRECTION. Much of EASTER is symbolism and is linked to the JEWISH
PASSOVER. The new Testament teaches that the Resurrection of JESUS is the
foundation of the Christian faith, and establishes JESUS as the Son of GOD.
Traditionally, EASTER has been a time when ladies put on their Easter
Bonnets with all the frills upon it, and in the past, there was an Easter Parade,
and a lot of people go to church on Easter, who do not attend regularly.
