Club Bulletin
SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 4/16/09
The members were scarce today to say the least. John Mordoff, Ken Miller, George
Gurnett, Carol Scanlan, Cookie Ford, Joyce Chapman, Steve Sherman, Harry Anderson,
Tex Williams, Bill Matthews, Jack Fielding, Don Andrews & Mac McAlpin
enjoyed each other's company, and the good program previously arranged by
Elton Chatfield, (who is in Hawaii with his wife and No Fine Badge). Oh, Yes,
Tex's "Little Boy" also showed up.
V J MAC led the singing of "GOD BLESS AMERICA", JACK FIELDING led the
Pledge to the Flag, BILL MATTHEWS gave the invocation, and TEX'S THOUGHT: "He who never builds castles in the air never builds them anywhere."
Margaret Anderson
GEORGE GURNETT was tagged for $5.00 , because he forgot about the Board
Meeting on Monday. KEN MILLER paid $20.00 because he won the Big Pot last
week. The PREZ apparently ran out of fines, and then mumbled something about
the price of luncheons might be raised. Bring it up at the Board.
HARRY ANDERSON won the weekly pot, and drew a four, and donated it back.
MAC MC ALPIN won a second drawing and won a hockey puck.
EVAN FLAGG of the Ontario Reign Hockey Team was the speaker. He grew up in
Pomona, and has been with the New Pro Ontario Hockey team since it opened last
October 26, 2008. The team is in the play-offs, and has had more "Call-Ups" to the
Major League Team, which is the Los Angeles Kings. The new Ontario Arena is just
off the I-10, and cost 150 Million dollars to build, and the city of Ontario funded the
total cost. Tickets to the games start at $12.00. There are 9760 seats for a hockey game.
There are about 2700 season ticket holders, and the Reign have won 3 of their last 4 games.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS:
Have you called someone today - To come and join us while we play.
They will like our club, we know.-And they will leave here with a glow.
Come and sing a song or two - The Fellowship will see you through
This club will help you lose your woe, and will make your dreams come true.
Music - "Help Me Make It Through The Night" - Kris Kristoferson
Lyrics - V. J. McAlpin
