VJ MAC led the patriotic song, GOD BLESS AMERICA, accompanied by GLORIA FREET. GEORGE BISHOP led the Pledge to the Flag, and ELTON CHATFIELD gave the invocation.

As usual the lunch was very good, and JOYCE CHAPMAN was not present to enjoy it.

MAC announced that HARRIETT LEONARD, the wife of retired dentist, and former Kiwanian, DICK LEONARD passed away suddenly last week. HARRIETT was 89 years old.

ELTON CHATFIELD requested that anyone who has pan-cake tools or equipment should contact him.

There was some reasonably spirited bidding for the FINE FREE BADGE for April, and I think Dr. TANAKA won it with a bid of $45.00.

TOM PALMERI bragged a whole bunch about the awards that his son won at Covina High J.V.'s, and paid $10.00 for that , and then he announced that he had lost 40 pounds with a great reduction in his waist sizes, and donated another $100.00.

Lt. Gov.- Dr. MICHAEL TANAKA was the program, and gave the program about "Give Kids A Smile and Kiwanis". Mike had some minor technical difficulties with his equipment, but a special thank you should be given to Mike, and the volunteers from South Hills Kiwanis, who participated in the Give kids a smile program, namely JAN AND HARRY ANDERSON, DON ANDREWS, IRIS BISHOP, ELTON AND MARGARET CHATFIELD, MARGIE MORDOFF AND CAROL SCANLAN. You have truly practiced your mission statement.

VJ MAC bragged about his grandson, THADD, pitching a complete game shut-out when SOUTH HILLS HIGH played West Covina a few days ago. MAC contributed $20.00 for his bragging.
