Club Bulletin
SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 5/27/10
Pres. COOKIE FORD started the meeting by having the Southern Illinois Hillbilly
lead the singing of "America". STEVE SHERMAN led the Pledge to the Flag. DON
ANDREWS gave the invocation, and TEX WILLIAMS quoted something from Lord
Byron for the Thought For The Day:
"Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine".
We had one guest, namely Lillie Jimenez, the Literary Coordinator of the Covina Library,
who told about some programs at the Covina Library, which included some fund-raisers.
Unfortunately, the deaf old editor could not hear what she was saying.
All speakers please note - speak slowly, clearly and distinctly, and directly into the mike.
If you do, it might make it to the bulletin. Make me a note would help also.
CAROL SCANLAN gave a report on the receipts and expenditures. The initial report
regarding the Pancake Breakfast show that we probably did not make as much as last
year, but it was only down about 10%, which is not too bad.
Much Thanks, and many Kudos to ELTON CHATFIELD, MARGARET CHATFIELD,
KENT CHATFIELD, ROGER CHATFIELD, RON MILLER, STEVE MILLER, MIKE
TANAKA'S associate, STEVE, ALL THE KEY CLUBBERS, and the numerous other people who helped out at the Pancake Breakfast, We might have tossed away a few dozen
pancakes that we burned, or left too "rare" or just plain messed up, but all in all, it went
pretty good for all of the Octogenarians in this club, and we made the club some money.
Which brings up a point, - CONCERT UNDER THE STARS - This is a good fundraiser,
and there is no work to it - Just buy your dinner, and enjoy the music, and the
Hafif Foundation matches it - WOW!!!!
