Club Bulletin
SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 5/6/10
WOW!!! At least partially due to an Interclub with EI Monte, and partially due to
the lack of parking spaces, there was a very meager crowd of nine (9) members at this meeting. Maybe some of them jumped out of windows, like they did in 1929,
because of the tremendous drop in the stock market. I for one entertained some
rather bizarre thoughts, but maybe we will see a rebound soon. Is it the Democrats,
or a carry-over from the mess that "w" created, or maybe the Lord is unhappy
with the way we have been conducting our country- but we need his help.
This rabble rouser led the singing of "America", CAROL SCANLON led the group
in the pledge to the flag, which was not present in the small room where we met.
JOHN MORDOFF used TEX'S Thought For The Day:
"He who plants thorns, must never expect to see roses."
ELTON CHATFIELD gave the invocation.
PRESIDENT COOKIE worked on her budget even with the small group and tried to
nail yours truly for my wife's birthday, but since it is not until next week, I refused to
pay for that event. So then COOKIE worked on ELTON, because his phone went off
during the invocation, and he is going to be absent next week, because he is going to
take his wife back to Minnesota for her birthday, and he will not be at the board meeting on Monday, May 10,2010, and for these transgressions, ELTON paid $50.00.
Normally, the No Fine Badge is auctioned off on the fint meeting of the month, but
due to the small crowd, the auction was postponed for a week.

Chuck Gartside presented the President with a new bell-in miniature,
and Big Jack presented the Prez with a bright red royal mounted police
hat and whistle.
John Mordoff carried the pot and collected $2 from Herron, Olive,
Ryan, Duncan, Coleman, Miller and Dorr for being noisy.
Big Jack attempted to read a letter from Chief of Police O'Day, which
thanked the Kiwanis Club for their participation in the animal clinic
recently. His rather poor eloquency brought an appropriate remark from
Chief Johpson, who was promptly fined $5 for mouthing off.
Elton Chetfie1d and Tex Williams were fined $1 each for being late,
and then'they left early on the pretext that Tex's dog was stung by a
bee, and Elton had to attend to it.
Harold Johnson, Shirley Johnson, Ken and Monty Miller and Jay Ryan's
two teenagers appeared in the winners circle at Los A1amitos. Jack
collected $10 from Harold for the picture, $10 from Carl for the
picture of Shirley and $10 from Jay for squeezing his kids in the picture.
