MAC is back and led the singing of "GOD BLESS AMERICA." JACK FIELDING
gave a short epigram concerning the Flag, and led the Pledge to our Flag. Dr. MIKE
TANAKA gave the invocation, and TEX'S Thought for the day was a quote from
Adlai Stevenson: "It is often easier to fight for one's principles than to live up to them."
Guests included Tex's oldest son, MICHAEL. SALLY PACE was a guest of CAROL
SCANLON. RON AND JAN PERRYMAN were guests of ELTON CHATFIELD.
We also had an interclub with the LaPuente-Industry Kiwanis Club consisting of
VERN MOYER and MORGAN MATTHEWS. Their club is having a pancake
breakfast on Saturday, May 16,2009, at 8:30 A. M. at the LaPuente High School,
and their tickets are only $3.00, but they are not serving eggs like we are. There was
a little reciprocity in that we bought some of their tickets, and they bought some of
our tickets.
The Prez finally got the business session rolling, and fined COOKIE FORD for her
trip to Myrtle Beach, S. Carolina. Cookie said it was beautiful, and paid $5.00 ??
ANITA WHITE got her name in the paper again, and paid $10.00. JOYCE CHAPMAN
paid $5.00 for the nice meal consisting of a turkey melt and fruit, and good ice-cream.
STEVE I :MAN paid $5.00 just because he is a nice guy-.and I could not hear.
PREZ. DON paid $35.00 for his wife's birthday, but VJ MAC got away with only a
$30.00 fine for his wife's birthday and a trip to Arkansas, where he had to deal with a
bunch of red-necked farmers who did not like each other.

Two ladies from the GUIDE DOGS OF AMERICA presented the program along with
two beautiful white Labs. It costs many thousands of dollars (30,000 ???) To train a
dog, but it costs a recipient nothing. I am sure there are guidelines that must be met to
qualify for one of these beautiful dogs. There are eleven guide dog schools in the U.S.,
And three of them are in California. Shepherds, Labrador and golden retrievers are
the type of dogs usually selected because of their size and temperament. It costs $4000
to sponsor a puppy. This might be a worthwhile project.
Have you called someone today? To come and join us while we play - If not, do so.
