SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 6/19/08

The meeting opened with GEORGE GURNETT leading the Pledge to the Flag. Then Mac led the patriotic song, " God Bless America" accompanied by JOYCE CHAPMAN. BILL MATTHEWS gave the invocation. No thought for the day- Tex was absent.

We had a sparse crowd today, because of an interclub with Monrovia, and there might have been a few playing golf as well.

GLORIA FREET was not present, because she fell last week and is in the ROWLAND CONVALESCENT recuperating. Our prayers are with GLORIA.

Pres. ANITA fined the back corner table consisting of JOHN RADCLIFFE, BILL MATTHEWS, JACK FIELDING AND COOKIE FORD. All were assessed $2.00 for making such a ruckus, but I understand it was TINA who said something funny that caused it. So, TINA contributed $2.00 to the pot.

JOYCE CHAPMAN paid $5.00 - as usual- and then forked over another $20.00. VJ MAC paid $20.00 for bragging about his grandson, Little MAC QUINN, who broke the South Hills Country Club swimming record for a 10 year old.

ANITA WHITE paid $4.00 for failing to attend Don Andrews meeting on Monday.

A GOOD, EXTREMELY INTELLIGENT AND KIND MAN PASSED AWAY
THIS PAST WEEK - TIM RUSSERT. REGARDLESS OF YOUR OWN
POLITICAL VIEWS, THIS COUNTRY HAS LOST A REAL TREASURE,
AND IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MEMORIAL CELEBRATION OF HIS
LIFE, AND IF IT IS SHOWN AGAIN, IT IS A GREAT TRIBUTE, WHICH
I BELIEVE YOU WILL ENJOY.
