SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 7/10/08
We miss GLORIA FREET, and ask the Lord to use his healing hand on all of her
physical problems. The meeting was opened with MAC MC ALPIN leading the
singing of "America" (My Country 'Tis Of Thee) without the assistance of a piano, because there was none in the room - and there was no P.. A. System.
HARRY ANDERSON led the Pledge of allegiance , and BILL MATTHEWS gave the invocation. TEX WILLIAMS' Thought For the Day:
"I heard my grandmother say this many, many times:
A bird never flies so far that its tail doesn't follow,
In other words, you'd best behave or we'll hear about it."

COOKIE FORD introduced Chief Petty Officer LEONARD PEREZ, who happens to be an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, and in the Reserves, who has pulled two tours of duty in Iraq, and/or Kuwait. He spoke about some of his experiences while on his tours of duty. He said the living conditions were horrible with a wide variation of temperatures. He shared some of the pictures he has taken while overseas. It was a pleasure to have Officer Perez as a speaker.
