There was not much of a business session today. There was a little bantering
between the Prez. and TOM PALMERI about weddings and anniversaries,
but no funds were transmitted to the fur-lined pot to my knowledge. Even ELTON
CHATFIELD was prepared to fund a substantial levy for the 4000 mile trip that
he and MARGARET just made back to Minnesota, but Pres. DON got all tonguetied
and chickened out of relieving ELTON of some green-backs.
CAROL SCANLAN won the weekly drawing and $10.00
DON HOLCOMB, The Director of the Covina Concert Band, stated that the
Covina Concert Band is celebrating 50 years of great music. There will be
performances during twelve weeks of the summer session. The success and
continued existence of the Band is the result of various grants, and support
through volunteers, and the department of parks and recreation. However,
the generous donations of its patrons is really important. I think Don plays
the clarinet, and it would have been nice to hear him play "Frenesi" like Artie
Shaw used to play it.
Another Thought For the Day: Who brought you into Kiwanis? What did they
tell you about Kiwanis? How did they get you to join? Why not ask someone
that you know those questions. How about reinviting some of our old members?
Give me your thoughts. I might even print them.
