SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 7/26/07

JOYCE CHAPMAN led the group in singing 'GOD BLESS AMERICA' accompanied by GLORIA FREET. There was no flag to begin with, except a small one on the shirt of TEX WILLIAMS, and DON ANDREWS focused everyone's attention on the eyes of TEX in saying the Pledge. ELTON CHATFIELD finally conceded to the plea of PREZ. JOEL and gave the invocation.
GEORGE BISHOP'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY took some thought. "I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them"
Thomas Jefferson

PREZ. JOEL says SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS will make $4000.00 on the Concert Under The Stars. The first night is Saturday, 7/28/07.

DR. TANAKA presented some patches for a Kiwanis project ( to be sown on our banner). ELTON CHATFIELD and GEORGE BISHOP manned a booth at the Park recently trying to promote Kiwanis.

ADDELL WILLIAMS had a mini stroke recently, but is doing well.

KEN MILLER donated $60.00 to the fur-lined receptacle for his and MONTY'S 60th wedding anniversary. CARL JOHNSON just got back from Alaska and donated $120.00 CASH to the pot, because he had been gone so long, and missed us so much. JOYCE CHAPMAN gave $5.00 to the Pot for the good food. DON ANDREWS released $25.00 To the welfare fund for his vacation - back East. ANITA WHITE won $10.00 for the weekly drawing, but would not contribute any dineros for her 29th (??) Birthday, because she has the NO FINE BADGE for a few more days.

Our guest speaker was CHARLES GUSTAFSON, a family and individual counselor. Mr. GUSTAFSON was an interesting speaker, who passed out some good literature, and made a profound statement when he said: "The adult you are is built on the child that you were".

TO ALL MEMBERS: LET THE SPEAKER GIVE HIS TALK BEFORE ANY QUESTIONS ARE ASKED!!! IT IS CALLED COURTESY.
