SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 7/3/08

V. J. MC ALPIN led the singing of "God Bless America" accompanied by JOYCE CHAPMAN. ELTON CHATFIELD led the Pledge to the Flag, and TOM PALMERI gave the invocation.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

"The best we can find in our travels is an honest friend"
R. L. Stevenson

COMING EVENTS:

JULY 14 - 5:00 P. M. - COVINA BOWL
AUGUST 16 - CONCERT UNDER THE STARS - SEE JOEL BEEZY
COVINA CONCERT BAND - NOT FIRMED UP AS YET

ANITA lost her list- I am not sure which list it was, but at our age (and she is stretching for 65), it is a good thing we have our heads attached, because we might lose it or leave it at home - like some of us do at times- - even when we have court.

JOYCE CHAPMAN had a beautiful picture in some fancy looking brochure put out by Magan Clinic, and donated $20.00. As the Prez. said: "It looks like she is vamping" There just might be a few in this group who remember what "vamping" is. ELTON donated $5.00, whose son Kent just returned from fighting fires up North. MIKE TANAKA just returned from the International Convention in Orlando, Fla., And will present a slide program in the near future.
MAC got in some bragging about his grandson, MAC QUINN, who played on the all-star team for the West Covina 9-10 year old squad. Little Mac got 3 hits, and scored three times, and pitched his team to a 12 to 1 victory. Big Mac paid $5.00.

COOKIE FORD had two ladies from the COVINA BOWL tell about all of the
various programs, leagues and uses that are available at the BOWL. There are many bowling league schedules for SENIORS as well as younger people. Those with good knees should check it out. Dances, parties, anniversaries are but a few things that are available.

"Have you called someone today - To come and join us while we play
They will love this club we know, and they will leave her with a glow."

GLORIA FREET has been recuperating at her daughter's home, and she is
getting along fine. She had no broken bones after her fall. Get well soon, Gloria.

John Radcliffe has also been having some physical problems, and we hope to see John back with us - the sooner the better.
