SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 7/30/09
MAC MC ALPIN led the singing of 'GOD BLESS AMERICA", followed by
HARRY ANDERSON leading the Pledge to the Flag. BILL MATTHEWS
gave the invocation and TEX WILLIAMS' Thought for the day was a
Nigerian proverb:
Hold a true friend with both hands. They are golden.
JOHN MORDOFF read a thank you card from TINA VISCO, our regular server,
who has been ill.
ELTON CHATFIELD talked about his trip back East in his best Minnesotian
brogue. He bragged about his 95 year old brother's ability to do things, including
taking a wee sip of wine among other things. ELTON was quite chatty, and tried
his best to donate to the fur-lined pot (which was missing), but the mumbling wimp
of a President almost let ELTON off with a $20.00 fine. ELTON was so embarrassed
he put in $50.00.
Then it was HARRY ANDERSON'S turn, and he stood up and told a long tale of
fun and glee about his trip to NEW YORK ( I THINK), AND how his son-in-law
got a hole-in-one on a beautiful golf course, and HARRY honkered up $50.00/
PREZ. DON, WHO WAS IN SHORTS, NO LESS, tried to sell or auction off the
NO FINE BADGE, and after some pleading and crying, he was able to get MORDOFF
to bid $5.00, which is an insult, so MIKE TANAKA bid $10.00, and won the badge.
All I can say is - WOW!!!!- Such a bargain.
