SOUTH HILLS KIWANIS BULLETIN 8/16/07
VJ MAC led the singing of "God Bless America", accompanied by GLORIA FREET. Then HARRY ANDERSON led the Pledge to the Flag. There was a group of silent prayer, and then GEORGE BISHOP gave his thought for the day: ( but I lost it - but it was something like this):
You will never know what it is like to be perfect
unless you make some mistakes.
But then George B. gave a short program, which was in Canadian, or something, because I could not understand what he said.
PRES. JOEL BEEZY said that South Hills Kiwanis has made about $4300 to $4400 on the Concert Under the Stars.
The Installation Dinner will be held at Cal-Poly on September 15, 2007 at 6:00 P. M. The club voted to make it mandatory that everyone must buy at least one ticket at $35.00 per person, and even though it will cost about $46.00, the club will pick up the balance.
All incoming officers and directors as previously published in this bulletin were voted in by acclamation. (Except ANITA WHITE voted against herself, but her vote was overruled.)
SOUTH HILLS B.B.Q. - THURSDAY - 8/23/00 @ 6:00 p. m. GEORGE BISHOP won the drawing with the Ace of Spades - $40.00
V. RANDY VOTSCH of CONVALESCENT AID SOCIETY gave a very good program with one of the most worthwhile programs I have ever seen or heard of. It is a non-profit organization that loans FREE medical equipment for IN-HOME use - at NO CHARGE AT ALL. It has been in continuance operation since 1923, and initially it was funded from sales of a thrift shop, but about 12 years ago, someone left them Eight Million Dollars, which has really helped to say the least. The equipment is kept as long as it is needed, and the CAS now has over 30,000 pieces of equipment. THIS IS A GREAT PROGRAM AND IS SOMETHING KIWANIS NEEDS TO HELP. See their flyer here.
