RECENT SOUTH HILLS-COVINA CLUB EVENTS

THIRD ANNUAL TUTOR RECOGNITION LUNCHEON 2009

South Hills Kiwanis hosted the luncheon at Northview High
School for the teachers and students that are involved with the
Intervention Program.

The May 20th luncheon honored Ms. Yemina Arellanes and her
support staff plus the 155 students that are currently tutoring
874 of their peers.

Statistics show that this group of tutors has raised the
grades of these 874 participants by 20.5 percentage points; which
is an amazing feat. Each tutor was individually recognized and
presented with a Certificate of Achievement. In addition,
Ms. Arellanes was recognized and presented a "Distinguished
Service Award Plaque" from South Hills Kiwanis of Covina.

The following Kiwanis members served the luncheon of pizza,
salad, dessert, and drinks: Don Andrews, "Cookie" Ford,
Carol Scanlan, Elton Chatfield, George Bishop, and Harry and
Jan Anderson.
