News for Feb. 2007
The South Hills Kiwanis Club has had very successful January leading off with our annual fund raiser Kow Chip Bingo on January 27. Kow Chip Bingo is an event where a field is sectioned off into multiple squares, numbered, and sold off. A Bingo winner is chosen by where a cow does his or her business on the field. We had good club participation at the event including four very cooperative cows. The grand prize winner was Debbie Hitchings, the ticket was sold by Future Farmers of America; 2nd prize went to Sherri Scharton, also sold by FFA; and the 3rd prize winner was Doris Chan whose ticket was sold by the Key Club. But the biggest winner was all the volunteers and participants who participated in the one day event.
But what made January a very special month was not only the strong attendance at our lunch meetings, but also the launching of our very own web page www.southhillskiwanis.org . This website can keep our members and the greater community aware of what our club is accomplishing and we invite everyone to keep up with us by check us out online. We have already had several members say that their children and grandchildren enjoy catching up with what their relatives are up to.
In addition to this exciting news, our club was also honored by ventriloquist/TV personality Jimmy Welden who gave a motivational speech at one of our meetings. Any club who has not had jimmy does know what they are missing.
